Philip Allan (ALL)

Philip Allan & Co., Ltd, 69 Great Russell Street, London

In 1933 Blampied designed the jacket for three novels by John Fairfax-Blakeborough, all about horses and horse racing, and three collected volumes of horror stories in what was called the 'Creeps Series'. There were six titles in the series, all edited by Charles Lloyd Birkin. The horror stories are very collectable in their own right, so copies with dust jackets are beyond my budget. A copy with an original dust jacket in good condition was on sale in January 2020 for £1,500. However facsimile dust jackets are available. The second editions of the horror stories do not have a dust jacket by Blampied.
