Rupert Brooke (1887-1915) and Wilfred Owen (1893-1918) both wrote poetry during the First World War, in which both died. This book was issued with the poems of each poet printed back-to-back. The book is designed to be flipped on the short edge through 180 degrees. The poems of Brooke are printed on 4 pages and those of Owen on 11 pages; the first page of Owen is a quotation: My subject is war, and the pity of war. The poetry is in the pity
.
This back-to-back edition was published after a single volume edition of poems by Wilfred Owen.
The code applied to this book contains the first letters of the names of each poet, Brooke first. The same code is applied to the entry for the entry on Wilfred Owen with Rupert Brooke, on these pages.
