Town and Country

The Stuyvesant Company, 389 Fifth Avenue, New York, U.S.A.

Town and Country is an American magazine founded in New York in 1846 (it's still going) which reproduced an illustration by Blampied that had first appeared in the Christmas issue of The Sketch in 1912. It is possible that the magazine may have used other drawings by Blampied, but it has not been searched. It is unlikely, as the magazine did not use illustrations within the magazine, as did The Sketch. The cover was the only artwork.

The drawing, called The Finishing Touch, is reputed to have been bought by Helena Rubinstein, the founder of the eponymous cosmetics company, who was a noted collector of art. But this has not been confirmed.
