I would not have known that this jacket was designed by Edmund Blampied if he hadn't pasted it into the album of book jackets that he designed. I very much doubt that he would take credit for someone else's work. It is not signed. My copy is smaller than the first edition, so is a reprint.
Frederick Watson (1885-1935) was a partner in the publisher Nisbet & Co. He was a journalist; he was the biographer of the novelist R.S. Surtees; he wrote fiction between 1912 and 1924; and he founded the magazine for the cause of handicapped children called Cripple. We have come a long way since then.
