Jenny Essenden[Agnes Russel Weekes]
The author of Jenny Essenden
was later named as A(gnes) R(ussell) Weekes (1880-1940) who also used the pseudonym Anthony Pryde. Under this name she wrote a novel with her sister R(ose) K(irkpatrick) Weekes called The City of Lilies
. This novel was published by Andrew Melrose in England in 1923 under the names R.K. Weekes and the author of Jenny Essenden, and in the USA by R.M. McBride and Company under the names Anthony Pryde and R.K. Weekes. Their books are very hard to find. All rather odd.

Notes: The front panel of the dust jacket of this novel was pasted by Blampied into his personal album of jackets, so this is the only known copy. The information about the book is taken from a copy in the Bodleian Library with an accession date of November 1921 (25612 e.584), which does not have the jacket. It was also issued in a Popular edition in 1927, but it's not known whether this has the jacket designed by Blampied. Given that it was issued in a Popular edition, so presumably sold well, it is rare. I can only find one copy of the title on Vialibri.
