Final catalogue of paintings done between 1960 – 1978 and usually known as A Northamptonshire Record

This consists of seven mimeographed pages of Carr's handwriting on foolscap paper (328 x 203 mm), stapled at the top left corner. The copy described here is in the British Library and was accessioned on 25 Oct 79. There is also a copy in Kettering Public Library.

The first page is an explanation:

Each listed picture has a written comment, and is the sole occupier or shares a 2’ x 2’ sheet of light corrugated card. These cards could be arranged into a near instant exhibition in village halls or village greens and so on. Its purpose was to interest and inform Northamptonshire people about what was to be seen locally. Chiefly it has been borrowed by organizations raising money to maintain buildings.

The other six pages consist of a list of some 338 places and objects in several sections, which are summarised below:

All 338 of these items plus a few maps and cards can be seen in J.L. Carr Collection at the Visual Arts Data Service (VADS) here. All the images are copyright of Mr. R. Carr.

The originals are in eight bound volumes in the collection of the Northamptonshire Archives and Heritage Service.
