The Islander

Jersey Pictorial Press, Airway House, Mulcaster Street, St Helier, Jersey

The Islander was a short-lived monthly magazine published in Jersey between February 1939 and March 1941, some 9 months into the German Occupation of the Channel Islands. I have only seen a few issue of this title as it is uncommon. I suspect that quite a lot may have been used as kindling when the gas supply ran out towards the end of the Occupation and people had to cook on an open fire using wet wood. The same title was used for a magazine published in Jersey in the early 1980s, so they can be confused.
