Blampied's work appeared in 44 issues of The Bystander in 1926 and included 39 political cartoons, 9 centre-fold drawings, 5 single page drawings in colours, and four drawings for title pages.
One of the centre-fold drawings featured the Victoria Falls (3rd March) on the border between Northern and Southern Rhodesia, now Zambia and Zimbabwe (probably drawn from a photograph); one featured a bull fight (3rd February), which looks vivid enough to suggest that he had been there; while others featured the wealthy at leisure in Biarritz (21 April), Lac Leman (9th June), Le Touquet (30th June) and Deauvile (21st July). The drawing on 17th March (see left) is a delightful fantasy, but I wonder if Blampied wasn't tiring of following the wealthy and privileged readers of The Bystander to draw them at play? These drawings are in stark contrast to his etchings of the same period of Jersey peasants and rural life in Belgium, France and Spain.
Type: MO = monochrome drawing; CO = colour drawing; PC = political cartoon; the number indicates the number of drawings or pages.
