This is the fifth of 11 novels with a dust jacket designed by Blampied in the Collection Nelson.
This copy illustrated might be the first edition as it is priced 2 francs 50, and the advertisement on the back is for Nelson's Continental Library, which was only published between about 1916 and 1920, so the whole of the wrapper is illustrated.
Maurice Barrès (English) (French) (1862-1923) was a French journalist, novelist and politician. L'Appel au Soldat was first published by Fasquelle in Paris in 1900.
