Mary Constance Elphinstone Lutyens (1868-1951) married a rich army officer named George Wemyss in 1890 and wrote novels and chidren's stories under his name. She was the eldest daughter of 14 children but had none of her own. Her brother was the architect Sir Edwin Lutyens.

Notes: I found this copy in a bookshop in Sablons, France, Jaquette très abîmé, avec 1 rabat détaché et l'autre manquant, but I didn't care, it had a jacket that I hadn't seen before. It had survived 100 years.
