The Three Fates

F[rancis] Marion Crawford

Francis Marion Crawford (1854-1909) was an American writer who wrote several novels set in Italy. This novel was first published in 1891 by Macmillan and P.F. Collier & Son.

The letter commissioning Blampied to design a dust jacket was in a file of letters that is missing from the Nelson Archive, but Edwin Jack wrote on 9th April 1918:

We think this will make a very satisfactory design for The Three Fates. Kindly send us finished drawing at your convenience. Will you note to keep the price rather smaller. If you made it on back and front so that in each case it came within the diameter of a shilling it would be big enough even allowing for reduction. In these days of changing prices we sometimes need to paste a ticket over the price.
