This was the successor to Baby's Annual and for a few years became Nelson's main Annual for very young children. It was smaller than the The Chummy Book
or The Jolly Book
, which both contained 288 pages and 16 full-page colour illustrations. The second Nursery Book was like the first: it also contained four original double page drawings by Blampied. The second Nursery Book contained fewer pages than the first: 93 compared with 128 pages. The third Nursery Book contained fewer pages than the second: 88 pages. There were no more double page flat-colour drawings by Blampied, just two single page flat colour drawings facing each other by Blampied and other artists to sustain the same format.
This book has been seen with different covers but the same content. The two covers are shown below.
