The novel was identified because Blampied had pasted the front panel of the wrapper into an album of dust jackets. I was lucky to find a well-preserved copy of the jacket on a book.
Gabrielle D'Annunzio, Prince of Montenevoso, Duke of Gallese, (1863-1938) was an Italian soldier, poet, journalist, playwright, and author who is associated with the Decadent Movement.
This is a translation into English of 12 of the original 18 stories in Le novelle della Pescara (Fratelli Treves, Editori, Milano, 1902) which was first published in the USA by Doubleday in 1920 with an introduction by Joseph Hergesheimer. This is the British edition of that book with the same introduction.

Notes: The 16 pages of adverts at the back are Eveleigh Nash's List of New Books, Spring 1920. This title is listed there at a price of 7 shillings net, so the price had increased before it was published. A search on Vialibri for the 20 novels listed on the back of the jacket found no copies of 11, one copy of six, two copies of two and 14 copies of one - The Sheik. None had a dust jacket, but any copy with a jacket would probably sell quickly. Neovertheless, these are hard-to-find books.
