Alice and Claude Askew were English authors of over 90 novels, many published in 6 penny and 7 penny series. Alice Jane de Courcy (1874-1917) married Claude Askew (1865-1917) in 1900. They both died when the boat they were travelling on was torpedoed by a German submarine in the Mediteranean during the First World War. Alice's body was recovered and she was buried in Corfu; her husband's was not. They left behind two children.
