This is one of seven novels by Jean Webster, an American writer, published for the first time in the U.K. by Hodder & Stoughton. Four of the titles have a dust jacket designed by Blampied: Patty & Priscilla, Just Patty, Jerry and this title. There was an eighth title, Much ado about Peter published by Hodder & Stoughton also in 1916, but I have not seen it.
Jean Webster (1876-1916) was an American writer and author of several novels published between 1903 and 1915, most of which featured young women. Her novels promoted the idea of education for women, and her characters explicitly supported women's suffrage, a cause that she promoted in her personal life. She died in 1916 aged 39 of puerperal fever after giving birth to her first child.
This novel was entitled Jerry Junior (1907) in the USA.
