This dust jacket is known only from the panel pasted by Blampied into his personal album of dust jackets. A book with a dust jacket has not been seen but as two other novels by Dell were reissued in 1921 in Unwin's 2/6 Novels series, all with a similar design and lettering probably by Blampied, it is presumed to be published in the same year. By 1925 the novel had a dust jacket designed by Squire, so it wasn't used for long.
The novel is by Ethel M. Dell (1881-1939) a very successful and popular writer of romantic melodramas. She married an Army Officer in 1922 to become Ethel Mary Savage, bought a large house near Guildford, and became reclusive (see The Oxford Companion to Edwardian Fiction, 2002). She died of cancer aged 58.
