William Forbes Morgan

This plate is probably for the first William Forbes Morgan (1841-1916) rather than his son, William Forbes Morgan (1880-1937) or grandson, William Forbes Morgan (1907-1945), who died during the Second World War. William senior was a noted American sportsman, born in Selma, Alabama, who retired in 1883 and went to live in London. The shield on the left is the eagle of the United States; the shield on the right is for the Scottish Forbes family.
