May Tennant

Margaret Edith (May) Tennant née Abraham (1869-1946) campaigned to improve conditions for industrial workers. She was appointed to the Departmental Committee on Dangerous Trades in 1895 and in 1896 married the Chairman, Harold Tennant. She became chairman of the Industrial Law Indemnity Fund, she was a member of the Royal Commission on Divorce, and was a founder and treasurer of the Central Committee for Women's Employment. She had five children. Her oldest son, Henry, was killed in action during World War 1, aged 19.
