Franz James Mankiewicz
This is a view of Northumberland House on the Strand in London, probably set in 1814, the date at the top. Franz James Mankiewicz (1858-1917) is said to have been a rice broker who lived at 2 Whitehall Court. He commissioned a photographer named Henry Dixon to take photographs of old London and the titles of the books in the plate reflect his interests.
