Violet Leconfield

Beatrice Violet Rawson (1892-1956) married Charles Henry Wyndham in 1911 and became Baroness Leconfield of Leconfield. Charles held the office of custos rotulorum of Sussex between 1917 and 1949. They lived at Petworth House in Sussex, shown in the panel with their 'Tijou' gates, now restored. The house is now owned by the National Trust. Violet had no children so adopted two, one of whom she named Elizabeth Geraldine Wyndham (1922-2008). Elizabeth worked at Bletchley Park during the Second World War and for the Foreign Office.
