Johann & Dora Kruse

Professor Johann Secondus Kruse (1859-1927) was an Australian violinist, conductor and teacher of music who married Christiane Dorothee Gildmeister (1866-1953), called Dora, in 1901. She was born in Switzerland. They settled in London in 1897, where he died. The Latin moto on the belt around the shield is by Horace and reads 'Odi profanum vulgus et arceo'. It means 'I hate the masses and avoid them'. What a nice couple. They had no children.
