Alice Goetz
I think that this is Alice Leontine Hannah Goetz (b 1865), brother of Ludovic Godfrey Goetz, who also has a WPB bookplate. He changed his name to Foster, perhaps because of anti-German sentiment during World War I. She may have changed her name when she married, but I can find no one with the same three first names. Horace Jones (1968) describes the image as a 'Northern Italy orange grove with mountains in the background and statuary and temple in the foreground'. I also can't find a house with the Alps or Dolomites in the background. Perhaps she married an Italian? Can anyone help? Please contact me.
