Raphaeli Mauritii Bauer

Raphael Bauer (1864-1947) was first, a foreign banker, trading from premises in Old Street in London, and second, a stock broker trading at Drapers Gardens with Eustace Blundell. He was born in Augsburg in Germany. The word 'volo' means 'I want' in Latin. The books are by a mixture of German and English authors or give names of famous men: Napoleon, Julius Caesar, Frederick the Great and Cromwell. The gauntlet on the floor may have something to do with a challenge? Although the monorah is prominent, the book by the table is the Bible.
