John Lane The Bodley Head (LAN)

Name and address.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) was a Scottish novelist and travel writer. He published Travels with a Donkey in 1879. It described two weeks he spent walking in the Cevennes, a large area of wilderness in southern France, with a donkey named Celestine. It is one of the first examples of outdoor literature.

This fine edition of Travels with a Donkey was also published in the USA by Dodd, Mead and Company using pages printed in England but issued in a slipcase.
